Can AI really create a production-ready fashion tech pack, and more importantly, can you trust the information it generates? In this video, I put a selection of AI tech pack tools to the test from the perspective of a technical designer and product developer. I tested SpecForm OS, AI Tech Packs, Kōbō, The F Word and ChatGPT*, looking beyond how polished the finished documents appeared and checking the technical information they actually generated. Across the different tests, I looked at areas including: • Technical flats and garment interpretation • Points of Measure and measurements • Grading and size information • Bills of Materials (BOM) • Construction details and stitch information • Fabrics, trims and colour information • How each platform handles missing or unconfirmed information Some of the results were genuinely impressive. These tools can already generate a considerable amount of technical documentation very quickly. But I also found incorrect measurements, inaccurate callouts, assumed construction details, generated grading and, in some cases, AI changing information that had already been confirmed. And that raises a much bigger issue for fashion product development: false confidence. A tech pack can look professional and production-ready while still containing information that hasn't actually been confirmed. In this video, I'll show you what each platform produced, where I think AI can genuinely support the tech pack process, and where technical knowledge and human review are still essential. Tools tested: SpecForm OS AI Tech Packs Kōbō The F* Word ChatGPT This is the first video in a wider look at AI and fashion product development. I'll also be creating individual videos exploring each of these platforms in more detail, including the workflow, inputs, outputs and limitations I found during testing. If you work in fashion design, garment technology, technical design or product development, I'd be interested to know whether you are already us
