How to Sew a Patchwork Tote Bag Using Fabric Scraps | Zero Waste & Beginner Friendly Sewing Project

In this video, I’ll show you how to sew a beautiful and unique patchwork tote bag using fabric scraps you already have on hand. ♻️ This project is zero waste, beginner-friendly, and a great way to use up all those little offcuts and “wonky bits” you’ve been saving. I’ll guide you through the entire process — from creating the patchwork base, lining your bag, and sewing sturdy straps. Materials used: - Base and lining fabric - Fabric for the straps - Fabric scraps for the patchwork (any shape or size!) - Tulle or organza (for the overlay) - Sewing machine, thread, scissors, pins - Iron and ironing board - Ruler or measuring tape - Tool to turn straps out (I used a crochet hook) Measurements (including 1cm seam allowance): - Tote bag: 40cm x 44cm (1 piece for the patchwork front, 1 for the back, 2 for the lining) - Tulle: enough to cover the patchwork plus a little overhang - Straps: 2 pieces, each 82cm x 7cm If you enjoy scrap-busting, mindful sewing, and making something beautiful from what you already have, you’ll love this project. 🌿 What’s your favourite way to use up fabric scraps?
