Why Instagram Isn't Working for Fashion Designers (And What to Do Instead) When you've spent months creating a beautiful fashion collection, but your Instagram videos are only getting 200–300 views, the answer isn't necessarily more followers or another content strategy. In this video, I explain why fashion designers can get stuck in a loop of posting the same garments repeatedly, hoping Instagram will eventually show their work to the right people. I share Amanda's experience of taking a different approach: creating a curated showcase for press, buyers and invited guests, giving other people a reason to share her collection with their own audiences. The result? Her Instagram views went from around 200–300 to around 30,000, and she gained months of content from photography, video and press coverage. This is what happens when you stop expecting Instagram to do all the work and start thinking strategically about your launch. Your photographer has an audience. Your stylist has an audience. Your media partners and guests have audiences, too. Your collection can travel far beyond your own followers. The question isn't just, “What should I post next?” It's “Who needs to see my work, and what can I create that gives them a reason to notice?” I’m Jane McMillan, Fashion Business Consultant and Fashion Launch Architect. I've spent almost 40 years working on fashion collections and launches, helping designers think beyond the collection itself and build the visibility and credibility their work deserves. Fashion Launch Catalyst helps fashion founders bring their launch strategy, brand narrative, PR and marketing together. Your collection deserves more than another post disappearing into the Instagram feed. It deserves to be talked about by the right people. Share this with a designer who’s tired of posting beautiful work and feels like they’re getting nowhere. #FashionBusiness #FashionMarketing #FashionDesigner
